“QA/QC”
The three Saudi
Engineers, who launched Zamel & Turbag Consulting
Engineers (ZATE) a quarter century ago, had one
common visionary goal; they had a keen desire to do
only Quality Engineering for the world class
growth and the satisfaction of Saudi Industry.
Keeping their goal in mind they ventured into the
then existing market for the best engineering
collaboration. They formed a joint venture agreement
with the internationally known engineering and
construction company Brown & Root, Inc., USA, during
the years 1982 - 1987.The joint venture was called
Zamel & Turbag/Brown & Root (ZATBAR). Many projects
were executed to the full satisfaction of the
Clients. This developed the Engineering acumen of
the Company and brought it to an international
Quality Engineering level.
After this there was
no looking back for ZATE. It has successfully
completed over 3.31 million man-hours of Design,
Engineering & Procurement and over 1.55 million
man-hours of Construction Supervision for many
reputed Clients all over the Kingdom. ZATE never
believed that Quality comes by accident; even before
the ISO 9000 came into being, ZATE had Quality
processes like ‘Squad Check’ and ‘Office
Check’ in place. Much to the happiness &
satisfaction of ZATE’s Customers this made the
Engineering end products go much easier and smoothly
during construction.
In the year 1999,
when ISO 9001 (1994) had traveled from Europe and
hit the shores of Saudi Arabia, ZATE again started
striving to achieve the new Quality goals, a
challenge the new world order had thrown to it. ZATE
invited Quality and Environment Certification
Limited (QEC), UK; for a session on “ISO: 9001
(1994) Awareness & Internal Auditing”. Immediately
thereafter ZATE started working on the ISO 9001
(1994) documentation requirements and implementation
of the processes. ZATE was Quality certified for
ISO 9001 (1994) on 19th April 2000, by
QEC, UK.
The Company kept
improving in its Quality investments. The top
management has always been sensitive to the
Customers needs and set ZATE’s Quality Values in
tandem with the Customer needs. It had a Quality
Management Representative with two Quality
Coordinators and six Internal Quality Auditors, who
maintained and kept ZATE Quality Values on
top of other business goals.
The closure of Saudi
Operations by QEC required ZATE to affiliate itself
with MOODI INTERNATIONAL, UK. Thus ZATE was then
certified for ISO 9001 (1994) on 30th
January 2002 with MOODY INTERNATIONAL, UK. The
ISO organization revised its Quality standards and
called for re-certification under the new standard
ISO 9001:2000. Quality requirements for ISO
9001:2000 were then met by ZATE and ZATE was
certified for ISO 9001:2000 on 22nd March
2004 by MOODY INTERNATIONAL.
Today, ZATE has in
addition to earlier MOODY Certified Lead Auditors,
an IRCA Certified Lead Auditor through Nigel Bauer &
Associates, UK. ZATE’s staff has been given a
refresher course on Quality Awareness and it now has
a strong team of 15 of QUV Certified Internal
Quality Auditors; who are continually assuring the
Engineering Quality of the Company end product and
thus building the right relationship with ZATE’s
Customers.
